ANTIQUES TRADE GAZETTE

Mar 2007

One year on…business is blooming

Last June, Talisman, the spectacular design, antiques and contemporary arts emporium, opened in a large converted Art Deco garage on London’s New King’s Road, SW6.

Today, anyone who has visited knows why this decorator’s destination has become a landmark on the more pacey flank of London’s antiques scene. Now the action is about to spread outside.

For Talisman’s first anniversary, owner Ken Bolan has commissioned one of the UK’s top landscape designers to create an entire English country garden in the garage forecourt.

The garden opens on May 22 and will be in bloom through to June 30, covering the period of the Chelsea Flower Show at the end of May.

Mr Bolan’s choice of designer is Martin Lane Fox, who is a judge at the Chelsea Flower Show and responsible for some of the world’s most acclaimed gardens. He holds the Royal Horticultural Society’s highest award, The Victoria Medal of Honour.

He will be using statuary and garden furniture from Talisman’s stock to create a garden installation.
