The taste for eclectic, unusual furniture is growing and to fill that need, the antiques gallery, Talisman, has just launched a truly exquisite furniture collection, called the Lacquer Collection. The nine designs, which range from console and side table to sideboards, are all finished in lacquer, and available in vibrant colours including ruby red, fuschia, teal and otter, plus the signature sea-green shade. Furniture like this comes at a price-expect to pay from £998 for a side table-but every piece is made to order with a three month lead time, crafted in a specialist workshop in Beijing. The lacquer, which uses natural products from tree sap, is applied and layered over a time-frame of one and a half months, so these are really special pieces of furniture.
