Bonsai started in Japan in the 6th century. Bonsai or the art of Pen Jung translates to tray planting. Originally, they were a sculptural item to display landscapes including mountains, rivers, rock coves and caves. From the 14th century onwards real trees were grown and highly prized and the art of bonsai flowers through the higher echelon of Japanese society. The bronze bonsai offered here today refers to the original concept and should be prized for their beauty and uniqueness.
